The Hazards of Skinny Dipping by Alyssa Rose Ivy
Paperback, 248 pages
Published May 17th 2013 by CreateSpace
Age Group: New Adult Contemporary Romance
Series: Hazards #1
Source: ecopy from Author
Summary:
This isn't a deep book about first loves or self-discovery. If you want a book like that, I'd be happy to recommend one, but I don't have that kind of story to tell. Instead my story is about rash decisions and finding out that your dream guy is bad in bed. It's the story of when I finally went skinny dipping, and how my life was never the same again. Oh, and it's also the story of my freshman year of college and realizing Mr. Right might have been there all along.
My Thoughts
The Hazards of Skinny Dipping is a great college story for a girl that is trying to figure out what she wants and who she wants to be. Juliet has finished high school and is going off to college in the fall. She gets a list of things to do to bring her out of her shell and the very last item on the list is to go skinny dipping. So she decides to just go for it and she jumps...and she is caught. By her hot neightbor Dylan. Who she has always had a crush on. Dylan finally takes notice that Juliet has grown up, and when they meet up at college they start to date. And Juliet gets her Happily Ever After. The End.

Just Kidding. That all happens pretty close to the start of the story and as you have guessed it that is just the start of one heck of a freshman year at college for Juliet. Juliet is a quiet super sweet girl, and Dylan is nice enough I guess, but he is a loud and sometimes rude guy who is used to girls throwing themselves at him. I don't think he was the biggest jerk on the planet, but I just couldn't see him with Juliet in the long run. But this is her lifetime crush so she just can't give up on him overnight. I do think Dylan cared about Juliet, but I just wanted someone different with her. Someone like Reed.

Juliet works with Reed and he is just flat out adorable. I loved how protective he would get over Juliet. They are thrown together multiple times throughout The Hazards of Skinny Dipping and each time they hung out I liked them more and more. Alyssa Rose Ivy does such a great job developing her characters and romances. I love reading all of her book for this reason. I know that the story will be engaging and fun and the characters will be relate-able and fully fleshed out and the romance will be rockin'. Juliet had me laughing out loud more times than I can count. The Hazards of Skinny Dipping was a feel good new adult book for me, and I can't wait to continue the series.

               YA Review
The Romeo Club by Rebekah L Purdy
Expected Publication Date: April 8, 2014
Age Group: YA CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE
Source: eARC from Publisher The Romeo Club 1600x2400
Summary:
THE ROMEO CLUB is Hitch meets The Secret of My Success.
What happens when you agree to help your brother de-nerdify so he can catch the attention of the popular Chloe Anders, and to everyone's surprise, he actually lands her?

And what if his equally geeky friends come running with girl wish lists of their own, offering money for your services?

Well, if youre sixteen-year-old, Delyla Denson, then you start The Romeo Club. A secret club where shell teach these guys how talk, act, and be cool around girls. Its a win-win situation.
Shell get enough money for the awesome prom dress shes had her eye on, and the guys, well, theyll get dates and maybe learn how to do something other than beat the next level on their video games.

There are only two problems with this plan. One, her quarterback/track star boyfriend is getting jealous of how much time shes spending away from him and decides to try and figure out whats going on. And two, Delyla is kind of falling for her brothers BFF, Trey who shes been hanging out with a lot more. And who thanks to her help, has caught the attention of the beautiful, perfect, and popular, Portia Rickard. With Portia and Trey heating up, Delyla realizes that maybe the person shes meant to be with has been in front of her all this time.

But falling for Trey means shell have to take drastic measures including sabotage, with a capital S.
My Thoughts The Romeo Club is a super cute match making book. Perfect for lounging by the pool or on the beach. Delyla helps her brother get a new look and the confidence to ask out his popular crush and it works like a charm. Suddenly his three geeky friends all want help from his younger, but popular sister. Delyla needs money to buy a prom dress so she quickly starts up the Romeo Club to help out her brothers geeky friends who have never been kissed or even asked a girl out. But Delyla is convinced that with the right clothes and some romeo lessons that she can land each of them their crushes.

I really liked getting to know each of the three guys. They were hilarious and adorable. Delyla is like one of the guys too. She gets along great with her brother and all of his friends because she is secretly a huge dork too. She loves playing all kinds of video games, but people at school don't know about that because she is dating a popular jock and she is a soccer jock herself. I liked how she didn't fit into any of the high school stereotype boxes. She was smart, played sports and was a huge gamer.

Throughout the romeo club Delyla starts to get closer and closer to one of the guys. The book is a little predictable but it was satisfying because what you want to happen, does happen. I liked that. If it was full of huge twists and turns, then I probably wouldn't have gotten the outcome that I wanted from the start. The Romeo Club is a funny and super cute romantic read. It is a feel good book that I think is a perfect spring or summer beach read.blue4

****************************************************************
This contemporary romantic comedy blends humor, sensuality, and angst, with zany characters and witty dialogue.
***Warning: contains sexual situations (some quite vivid!), profanity, and a high dose of sarcasm. Oh, and there is a lot of appletini and beer drinking.
May not be appropriate for readers under 18 years old. Not intended for prudes and killjoys with no sense of humor***

THE SERIES:
The Almost Bad Boys series are the stories of four feisty twenty-something women who refuse to let their past drag them down

My Thoughts

Almost Matched turned out to be different than I initially thought it would be. I thought it would be about bad boy players hanging out in bars and taking home different women every night, but the guy in the story Colin, is so much more than that. I really liked him. He is haunted by his past, and I feel like in the second half of this book we really got to know him and I loved that. This book set up a different kind of story than I was expecting but one that I think I will like even more. I am super excited for the second book.

Natalie is co-owner of a successful business and her business partner is a very causal relationship type of person. That just isn't who Natalie is. But she is in her mid 20s and she has been hurt multiple times before by guys. She figures she is ready for some fun. Enter Colin. Of course, it turns out to be more than just fun for either of them. Colin turns out to be such a sweetie. He was courting Natalie hard core. It made me swoon just a bit.

Almost Matched is a foodie's dream. I loved how on all of their dates, everything about their meals and wine were detailed down to the very last side dish and sauce. It was really detailed. Angela's writing was very vivid. I felt like I could taste the food and wine. Actually everything about her writing had a very realistic, every day life feel. Natalie and Colin's relationship seemed like so many new relationships. The honeymoon phase started to wear off and Colin started to act different, which started to cause Natalie to start over thinking things. And so on and so forth. But Natalie would never have guessed what the real reason behind his "off-ness" was.

Almost Matched started out great for me, and then around the 20% mark it got a little slow for me. But once I hit the halfway point of the book, I was out of the story slump and Almost Matched just kept drawing me more and more in. I got wrapped up in Natalie and Colin's story and it just kept getting better and better. I can't wait to read the next book. Now that the foundation has been laid and it ended up going in a different direction than I initially thought, I am super intrigued to see where the next book is going to go.

Sea Swept Series:

Why am I waiting on it?

I LOVED Full Steam Ahead. Yasmin was the best friend in that story, and With Every Breath is her story. If the romance is half a great as Geogia and Jaces I know I will love it. Valerie does a great job writing exciting and engaging romance. I cant wait to check out the next book in the series!

THIRD DEGREE by Julie Cross
Age Group: A New Adult Contemporary Romance
Expected Release is March 25, 2014
Published by Flirt (Imprint of Random House)Third Degree cover
Source: ecopy from Author

Summary:

Fans of Monica Murphy and Tammara Webber will savor this New Adult novela story about coming of age in the heat of the momentfrom Julie Cross, the internationally bestselling author of the Tempest trilogy.

I used to be Isabel Jenkins, child prodigy. As lame as that sounds, at least it was an identity. But now Im not sure what I am. I just failed the most important exam of my lifethe emotional readiness test required to get into a medical residency programand it turns out my parents cant stand each other. Now Im trying to figure out how to pick up the pieces of my life, and that means re-enrolling as a college freshman, but this time Im shutting the books and majoring in being eighteen.

But so far, my roommate hates me and Im not into the party scene. The only good thing about school has been getting to know my insanely hot RA. Marshall Collins makes me wonder about everything I missed while I was growing up too fast. Pretty soon were hanging out constantly, but for the first time, I find myself wanting more than a no-strings-attached physical relationship. And the lesson I really need is one Marsh definitely cant teach me: love. Because Im going to be alone forever if I dont learn fast.

My Thoughts

Third degree both a coming of age tale for a young genius turned doctor and a really sweet romance of two people finding each other. Find the other person that truly gets them. Isabel and Marshall are both hiding so many parts of themselves. Isabel had multiple degrees, including her MD by the time she turned 18. She was all set to start her residency before her 19th birthday, when she found out that she failed her emotional readiness portion of her exam, and no residency program would take her. So what does an 18 year old doctor do when she has half a year of free time before she can re-take her exam? She goes back to college for a "normal" college experience.

Here she meets her RA Marshall, who seems to know about her situation. He kind of takes her under his wing to kind of socialize her. Isabel is so smart, but she sees everything as very matter of fact. She doesn't seem to connect emotions with her actions. Which I personally felt would be an asset to a doctor, but I do see where a more appropriate bedside manner would be beneficial as well. Marshall seems to be able to bring out her more emotional side, but it wasn't overnight and it wasn't easy. I loved loved loved that it was finally triggered when Marshall was sick. That was when I knew how good the two of them would be together.

We also got to meet Marshall and Isabels family. I felt like I got to know Marshalls family a lot better than I got to know Isabels family. I loved Marshalls wacky family. They were all characters, and I really liked how close he was to his sisters. Their relationships were all very sweet. And Marshall himself is such a sweetie-pie. I just want to hug him and squeeze him. I really liked Isabel, but I loved Marshall.

Marshall and Isabel are both very stubborn though, so the road before them is not easy. There are so many moments when I thought, this is it. They have run their course. And there were a bunch of times where I wasn't sure if this was going to be your typical happily ever after book, and I was ok with that. I'm not going to tell you whether it is or isn't, but I will say that I was going to be ok with either outcome. This story seems to be so much about the individual journeys of the two main characters and it was done so well that it is enough of a story ending on its own. Third Degree is a great new adult book with substance and depth. The story felt realistic, very fleshed out and three dimensional. This is my first book by Julie Cross and I was very happy with it. I can't wait to check out her other books.
